If Art is an end in itself, with no message to deliver, no contradiction to explore, no emotion to provide, but just the objective to bring about contemplation, then it is certain that the fashion industry has a major role to play in the contemporary Art world. This particular definition will distinguish Art from certain types of substitutes such as crafts and manifestoes. Pure design, with no need for functionality or mass appeal, will place high fashion designers (whatever their tools might be) among those artists providing aesthetic results.
